A clinically proven, drug-free treatment for nipple trauma, mastitis, perineal healing, and caesarean scar recovery — delivered in a standalone 40 minute appointment.
Low Level Laser Therapy — also known as photobiomodulation — uses specific wavelengths of light applied directly to the affected tissue. It is painless, non-invasive, and drug-free. The light penetrates the skin to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and accelerate the body's natural healing process.
It is not heat-based and causes no tissue damage. Most women find it comfortable and notice improvement during or shortly after treatmentSafe for postpartum recovery when clinically appropriate
Nipple Trauma
Cracked, damaged, or traumatised nipples are one of the most common reasons mothers stop breastfeeding earlier than they planned. LLLT has been shown to accelerate wound healing and reduce pain, helping mothers continue feeding comfortably while their nipples recover.
Mastitis
LLLT is included in the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine's Clinical Protocol for the Mastitis Spectrum as a recommended non-pharmacological treatment. It works by reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and supporting tissue recovery — without the need for antibiotics in appropriate cases.
Perineal Healing
The perineum undergoes significant trauma during birth. LLLT supports tissue repair, reduces swelling and discomfort, and can speed up recovery in those early postpartum weeks when healing matters most.
Caesarean Scar Healing
For mothers recovering from a caesarean, LLLT can support scar tissue healing, reduce inflammation along the wound site, and improve comfort during recovery.
LLLT is a well-researched therapy with a growing evidence base in maternity and lactation care.
This is not a complementary therapy. It is evidence-informed clinical care delivered by a midwife with specialist training in maternity and lactation
Your 40 minute appointment begins with a brief assessment to ensure LLLT is appropriate for your situation. Treatment is then applied directly to the affected area. It is comfortable, quiet, and requires no recovery time — you can feed your baby immediately after

A non-invasive, evidence-based treatment for blocked ducts and mastitis in breastfeeding mothers
Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to create gentle vibrations deep within the breast tissue. This produces two key effects — a warming action that opens and dilates the milk ducts, and a micro-massage effect that helps reduce inflammation, relieve obstruction, and restore milk flow.
It is non-invasive, drug-free, and applied directly to the affected area of the breast
Blocked ducts and mastitis are among the most common reasons mothers stop breastfeeding earlier than they planned. They are painful, distressing, and often poorly managed — with antibiotics frequently prescribed when a more targeted, non-invasive approach may be equally or more effective.
Therapeutic ultrasound works by addressing the physical cause of the problem directly — opening the ducts, increasing circulation, reducing inflammation, and promoting the natural movement of milk through the breast. It is fast, comfortable, and has no downtime.
When combined with correct positioning, feeding support, and guidance from an IBCLC, it can make a significant difference to both immediate comfort and longer-term feeding outcomes.
Therapeutic ultrasound is now included in the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine's Clinical Protocol for the Mastitis Spectrum — one of the most widely referenced clinical guidelines in lactation care globally.
Published research supports its use for blocked ducts and mastitis, with studies reporting:
A 2024 case report published in Cureus highlighted the successful use of therapeutic ultrasound as part of a mastitis treatment program, and a retrospective case series of 25 postpartum women found that 23 of 25 reported full resolution of blocked duct symptoms following ultrasound therapy.
This is not an alternative therapy. It is evidence-informed clinical care, delivered by a midwife with specialist training in maternity and lactation.
Treatments are delivered directly to the affected breast in a calm, clinical setting. Sessions are comfortable, and most mothers notice relief during or shortly after treatment. The number of sessions required will depend on your individual presentation and will be discussed at your appointment

Needling by a Registered Midwife — supporting your body and mind through pregnancy and into labour preparation.
Pregnancy brings extraordinary changes — physically, emotionally, and hormonally. Acuneedling is a gentle, midwife-led therapy that works with your body's natural energy pathways to ease discomfort, calm the nervous system, and support your wellbeing at every stage of pregnancy.
Using fine needles and moxibustion, every session is tailored specifically to you — your stage of pregnancy, your symptoms, and how you're feeling that day
Many women find acuneedling helpful for conditions that can be difficult to manage in pregnancy, including:
Physical symptoms Back, hip, and pelvic girdle pain · Symphysis pubic dysfunction · Nausea, vomiting, and hyperemesis · Heartburn · Constipation · Haemorrhoids, varicose veins, and vulval varicosities · Restless leg syndrome · Insomnia
Emotional wellbeingAnxiety, fears, and emotional concerns around pregnancy and birth
Baby positioningSupport for posterior and breech presentations
As your due date approaches, weekly acuneedling sessions can help your body and mind prepare for birth. Treatment at this stage focuses on calming the nervous system, releasing and strengthening energy, and encouraging optimal conditions for labour — including gentle support for baby's positioning where needed.
Moxibustion is used alongside needling where appropriate, and sessions may incorporate specific maternal positions to support your baby's alignment.
Each one hour session begins with a thorough conversation about how you're feeling and what you need. Treatment is then tailored entirely to you — unhurried, gentle, and deeply supportive. Most women leave feeling calm and cared for, and many notice meaningful improvements after just one or two sessions
